Best Oven Beef Brisket

Ingredients
  • 1 (3-pound) beef brisket, trimmed
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup beef stock or stout beer
  • Barbecue sauce of your choice
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Grease a large Dutch oven and set aside.
  2. Smear both sides of the brisket with mustard. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, dry mustard, onion powder, black pepper and salt. Sprinkle evenly over both sides of the brisket and place in the Dutch oven.
  3. Roast uncovered for 1 hour. Add the stock or beer around the brisket, cover and cook for 3 to 3½ hours more or until the brisket is fork-tender. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 15 minutes. Slice against the grain if it doesn’t fall apart. Serve warm with barbecue sauce.
