Barbecued Onions
 
Ingredients
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon hot sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large yellow onions, peeled and sliced
Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the ketchup, water, vinegar, garlic, sugar, Worcestershire, salt, celery seeds, hot sauce and pepper. Blend and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  2. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes. Add the onions, stirring to blend. Cover and simmer 4 to 6 minutes longer. Serve warm, or cool completely and serve at room temperature.
