• Chiaroscuro: TSO Classical Concert:
  This concert explores the contrast of light and darkness in music through repertoire that depicts night and day. The first half of this inspiring program takes us on a journey into night time with works such as Saint-Saëns’ “La Nuit,” featuring a women’s choir made up of ladies from the Nashville community and de Falla’s dazzling “Nights in the Gardens of Spain.” The second half opens with the well-known fanfare from Strauss’ Thus Spake Zarathustra, with the full orchestra welcoming the glorious break of dawn and daylight. This second half takes us into daylight and features a unique, modern work by Sir John Tavener for soprano, baroque ensemble, and handbells called “Eternity’s Sunrise.”
