A new commission by the contemporary crossover composer and electric violinist Tracy Silverman headlines the fall concert series of the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra. Showcasing the varied textures of the orchestra, For the Greater Groove melds classical forms with popular music, vibrant rhythms and edgy dissonance with lyrical melody. Filling out a varied and dynamic evening are Buxtehude’s Chaconne in E minor, the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 performed by the 2018 NPO Concerto Competition Winner James Matthews, and Rachmaninoff’s majestic Symphony No. 3.
