At Gibson Electric Membership Corporation, we believe in the power of those ripples — and in doing our part to help them grow. We energize compassion by giving back to our communities, partnering with CoBank, the Tennessee Valley Authority and you to support local nonprofits.
Through the CoBank Sharing Success and TVA Community Care Fund programs, we award matching funds to nonprofits whose missions include reducing food insecurity, providing safe housing and career training for women and children and improving equipment and training for volunteer rescue squads.
We’re inspired by the waves of kindness you — our member-owners — create every day when you volunteer at your child’s school, donate to a local food pantry or round up your electric bill to support Change for the Community grants.
This voluntary bill roundup program allows your monthly electric bill to be rounded up to the nearest dollar. Those extra cents, just like tiny pebbles in water, join to create powerful ripples of support. The funds are distributed by a board of Gibson Electric members — with 100% of the funds going to 501(c)(3) organizations and staying in the service area where they’re raised.
Since 2013, our Kentucky members have returned $168,000 to their communities through this program, and we’re excited to begin awarding our first Change for the Community grants in Tennessee.
