Shadows Ignited

Silent No Longer Tennessee is a small grassroots nonprofit organization that supports and empowers survivors of sexual violence by establishing safe environments for survivors to share their stories in unique ways, while also equipping them with the essential skills needed to organize and advocate for themselves and others. They serve an average of 276 sexual assault victims/survivors per year through our advocacy and Shadows Ignited creative expression programs. The name represents how victims of sexual assault often attempt to hide their experiences in the shadows, but, as Dr. King reminded us, “darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.” The program provides opportunities to explore the healing power of art and find empowerment through the sharing of their stories through written word, music and dance. The event will include theatrical performances of poems, monologues, micro-plays, music and dance written by survivors of sexual assault.

Attendees need to park in the parking lot at the corner of Harding Place and Danby Drive. The rear parking lot is reserved for performers, volunteers and those requiring handicapped access.
