Paddling, hiking, relaxing and fishing are just a few of the activities our photographers captured for the latest Shutterbug Contest — “Tennessee Summer.” We asked our readers to capture what summer means to them. Our guest judge, The Tennessean staff photographer Lacy Atkins, with our staff sifted through nearly 850 entries to select the winners.
The top photographs combine a grasp of technical fundamentals and the patience it takes to capture the perfect moment. Great lighting, happenstance and timing are all elements that help make these images winners. Each one has essential elements: strong subject matter, good composition and interesting lighting.
We thank everyone who sent photographs for the contest.
