Southwest offers free app to monitor your power use and a prepay program
What is MyUsage?
MyUsage is a website and smart phone app that gives members the tools to manage their electric usage without feeling confused or overwhelmed. With MyUsage, members can see daily usage correlated directly with their daily charges, allowing them to control how much electricity they use and, therefore, manage their utility bills. MyUsage allows you to get information about your electricity consumption anytime, anywhere. It’s fast, easy and convenient.
How can this help me save electricity and money?
By being able to see how much electricity you are using each day, you have the information you need to make adjustments in the way you use power. By making adjustments, you have a way to see the amount of electricity various devices use.
What does it cost?
The MyUsage app does not cost anything. Southwest TN EMC provides this tool as a service to our members.
How do I get the MyUsage app on my smartphone?
Go to the App Store on an iPhone or the Google Play Store on an Android device to download the MyUsage app.
Can I find MyUsage on my computer?
Yes. On the internet, you will find MyUsage at www.myusage.com.
What information do I need to sign up for MyUsage?
Members can sign up for MyUsage without contacting Southwest. All the information you need to register can be found on your bill.
What is FLEXPAY?
FLEXPAY is a pay-before-consumption program and an alternative to traditional monthly billing. The program allows participants to avoid deposits, customize their payment schedules, purchase energy when convenient and monitor their own consumption.
What does it cost?
FLEXPAY is entirely optional for new or existing members. The service costs $5 per month and requires a minimum initial payment of $100 to create a FLEXPAY account.
What are the benefits?
The FLEXPAY program in conjunction with MyUsage (see left column) allows members the opportunity to be notified via phone, email and/or text message of low balances, daily balances, pending disconnects, disconnections and reconnections.
Note: An account is subject to disconnection when a credit balance is not present, regardless of notifications.
Payments can be made by telephone or internet (855-782-7864 or stemc.com). There is a minimum payment amount of $20 and no convenience fee. Office payments will require a minimum payment of $40. There is no minimum when paying through kiosks.
FLEXPAY accounts do not receive a monthly statement, but, instead, participants can view their usage and account balances and even make payments online or via telephone.
The debt-recovery program allows members with unpaid balances to utilize the program and, in some cases, have their power turned on immediately. FLEXPAY members are allowed to pay prior debt at a 25 percent debt recovery rate.
