In the September 2021 magazine, “The View From Above” showcased a few local skydiving, hang gliding, paragliding and hot-air balloon businesses. Here is a listing of some more aerial entertainment options across the state along with their general locations, contact info, website links and a brief description of what services they have to offer.

Skydiving:

Skydive East Tennessee is located on a private airfield in Dandridge, just outside of Knoxville. It offers tandem skydiving along with an AFF program and training to become a licensed skydiver and for skydiving solo. For more information, call 865-223-5155 or go to skydiveet.com.

Skydive Tennessee, Skydiving Nashville and Skydiving in Knoxville are a network of skydiving businesses in Tennessee. They have options for both beginner and experienced jumpers, offering tandem jumps, AFF Training, solo certification and options for experienced jumpers. West Tennessee Skydiving is located on a private airfield in Whiteville, 40 miles east of Memphis. It offers tandem skydiving experiences and AFF student jump programs, along with HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) Oxygen Jumps from 28,000 feet in the air that require supplemental oxygen in freefall. Hang gliding and paragliding:

Flying Camp Paragliding School is located in Dunlap in Sequatchie County. It offers professional paragliding tandem flights and basic, intermediate and advanced instructional courses. For more information, call 423-800-2228 or go to flying.camp.

Lookout Mountain Flight Park is located in Rising Fawn, Ga., close to the Tennessee border. It offers tandem flights along with flight school programs to learn how to hang glide and paraglide. For more information, call 706-383-1292 or go to flylookout.com.

Tennessee Tree Toppers has two sites in Tennessee in the Sequatchie Valley: the Henson Gap launch site and the Whitwell launch site, which is a cliff launch and is more advanced than the Henson Gap launch, requiring more training. Their facilities are not for beginner or student pilots. Briefings are required for newcomers. Memberships are required to use the facilities. Hot-air balloons:

Ace High Ballooning has operations out of Franklin and offers balloon rides in Middle Tennessee. It offers group flights with shared baskets and exclusive basket options for the hot-air balloon rides. For more information, call 615-423-7042 or go to acehighballooning.com.

Middle Tennessee Hot Air Adventures offers hot-air ballooning services in Nashville, Franklin and surrounding locations. Smokey Mtn Hot Air Ballooning is located in Murfreesboro and provides hot-air balloon flights in various locations in Tennessee.
